North Coast Basketball Youth Leadership Program
The NCB Youth Leadership Program is a 6 month program aiming to teach and develop young leaders in our NCB community. This initiative offers hands-on experience in coaching, officiating, competition operations and event management. Individuals will develop necessary leadership and communication skills through mentoring from our experienced coaches and officials.
This program can lead to paid opportunities in reffing, coaching, competition operations and development programs. This is a unique opportunity to build skills, give back to the game, and shape future career pathways in basketball.
Program Objectives:
● Develop leadership skills in young individuals interested in basketball
● Provide reffing, coaching, and event management experience
● Create hands-on opportunities in NCB basketball operations. This will start as a volunteer and progress to paid work when deemed suitable
● Foster personal and professional growth through mentoring and workshops
● Strengthen connections and community spirit community

Eligibility
To apply, individuals must be:
● Born in 2010 or earlier
● Existing members of the North Coast Basketball Community
Program Pathways
1. Coaching Pathway
● Development / Assistant coaching positions in junior teams
● Development coaching in some NCB programs and events
● Leadership roles in holiday camps
2. Officiating Pathway
● Referee development programs
● Referee development programs
● Referee experience (Saturday NCBL)
● Score table training
● Game day officiating roles (Court supervising, ref supervising, scoretable duty)
● Filming and video training
3. Game Day & Event Management
● Gain experience in customer service and administration duties
● Saturday NCBL Gameday Operations (Event setup, registrations, uniforms, score sheets and data entry)
● Learn the fundamentals of event planning and delivery in a professional but friendly basketball setting
● AAU Coastal Slam Game Day Operations
4. Leadership Development
● Leadership workshops
● Conflict resolution and communication training
● Community engagement initiatives (sponsorship)
5. Personal Growth & Career Development
● Mentoring with experienced coaches, referees, and administrators
● Paid opportunities in development programs and competition operations
● Potential recognition through Duke of Edinburgh and school leadership programs
Time Commitment required
The time commitment for the Youth Leadership Program will change week to week based on what events and programs are on, how many other staff/youth leaders are available and individual involvement. We understand it is important to balance school, sport, and personal commitments, so involvement can be individualised to accommodate other schedules while ensuring meaningful and necessary engagement in the program.
