Sonny Churton - Christine Kerr Scholarship

We are proud to announce that Sonny Churton has been selected as the 2026/2027 recipient of the Christine Kerr Scholarship.

Congratulations Sonny on receiving the Christine Kerr Clarence Valley Scholarship for 26/27. Sonny has been a founding member of our Yamba camps and training sessions and has consistently pushed himself and others in all drills and competitions.

Sonny missed out on playing representative basketball this season as his local club did not have enough players for a team. Sonny continues to train at the North Coast Basketball Warehouse every Tuesday night and will be attending the second stage of trials for the 16 & Under Northern Rivers AAU squad in Lismore this Sunday.

Christine Kerr was the driving force behind North Coast Basketball's delivery of programs in Yamba. Her efforts in supporting Yamba youth and her commitment to driving a carload of young players down to Coffs Harbour for NCB clinics and programs were not unnoticed.

The Christine Kerr Scholarship recognises young Clarence Valley athletes who embody the values including teamwork, effort, sportsmanship, enthusiasm, motivation and the constant desire to improve. Sonny embodies all the qualities in a player that Christine would be proud of.
